Be sure to “Like” Ear to the Ground on Facebook!

Blah…  the dreary weather continues, and I am still not feeling 100% wonderful, but here at Ear to the Ground we press on…..

“Meat is Murder” by The Smiths

The title track from the Smiths’ 1985 second album… Thankfully, I happened to be eating a meatless entre as I was writing this…

“Invisible Hour” by Joe Henry

This is the title track from Joe Henry’s thirteenth studio album which was released about a year ago.  Enjoy…

“Barely Holding On” by Sam Morrow

The lone new song on Morrow’s live EP, Seahorse Sessions which can be found currently on Noisetrade.  Good stuff.

“This is the Time (Ballast)” by Nothing More

The Acoustic version of the first single from this alternative metal band’s self-titled major label debut.  It comes from the Noisetrade Bonnaroo sampler we have been featuring.

“Wasted Daze” by Mouth Reader

The final track on this Murfreesboro, Tennessee garage band’s EP Hands.

“Knock ’em Dead” by Rhubarb Whiskey

Rhubarb Whiskey are a band from Oakland, CA.  They play a particularly potent blend of roots, punk, and American gothic music.  This song is from their 2013 album, Same Sad End.

“Wrong ’em Boyo” by The Clash

Two songs with “’em” in the title in a  row. From London Calling, this is a cover of a song originally recorded by the British Ska band, The Rulers.

“Leavings” by Cletus Kennelly and Lori Kelley

Due to not feeling well, I missed what I am sure was a great performance by Lori Kelley at The Building in East Nashville, but I am fortunate enough to have seen her play and hopefully to see her play again soon.  I also had the great good fortune to see a rare Nashville appearance of Lori with her long-time D.C. area partner Cletus Kennelly.  I got hold of their album, Lotus, and I have really been digging the music.

“Kara Takes Drugs” by The Ghoul Goes West

Our final track from the album, Ghosts and Bones and Blood and Things from our favorite band of misfits from the Northwest part of Arkansas.

“Drag” by Grant Lee Buffalo

We close out this shuffle with a track from the 2009 album, Mighty Joe Moon, by the L.A. rock band fronted by Grant Lee- Phillips.
